Personal Projects
University Projects
I enjoy coding as much as I enjoy writing. In fact, it often seems that creating an application is very much like writing a story: it has a plot (purpose or problem), major and minor characters (actors, entities, or objects), an antagonist (bugs!), a protagonist (usually fulfillment of the application’s purpose), and a narrator (the developer). My personal projects tend to focus on resolving issues related to web applications or web application design and are typically written in popular languages like PHP and Python. For my degree, I have had the pleasure of using other languages–Java, C#, VisualBasic (ick!)–for a variety of purposes. We even had to write a fairly detailed “application” using VBA and Microsoft Access. What a nightmare!
Here, you’ll find an assortment of maintained projects, stalled projects (mostly because I’m working on something else or haven’t had a need to work on that particular project), small projects, university projects, and a variety of others. If you’re looking for my creative works, you’ll need to look elsewhere on my site! Note that all of the sites linked here are hosted on my machine at home; if things seem a little slow, don’t panic! Running my own host is certainly much easier whenever I have a need to update software and it’s much less of a pain than hunting around for hosts that support Python, PHP, and Java on the same box!
Licensing
Most of my projects linked to or posted here are licensed under the GPL (version 3) or LGPL. Piki, in particular, is dual licensed under both the LGPL and BSD license, so you may pick whichever one you prefer. I’d recommend reading through the license documentation accompanying each project or browsing the source. In some cases, I may have forgotten to add a license file but attached it to the header comments of the sources. However, if I’ve forgotten to attach one, please contact me (you can leave a comment), and I’ll fix it as soon as possible. Nothing here is placed under the public domain, so please do consider following the license text if you find these projects useful.
